Furious, Hayle jetted back to Addis two days later.

Hayle has continued training in Ethiopia. He has plans to run not only at the 2015 World Championships but also at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. But he told that unless he is respected and paid regularly, he will cut all ties he has with Azerbaijan.

"I have done what nobody in that country's history has done before. I have honoured them and given my best for them. Other countries treat athletes like me as national heroes. But I am treated like a nobody, I'm not even given the basic essentials to live. I'm not going to continue like this any longer."

Azerbaijan's Olympic committee head hasn't answered emails we sent alerting them of our concerns.
